How to sign a PDF on iPhone
- Open this page in Safari on your iPhone.
- Tap Choose a PDF and pick the file from your iPhone or iCloud Drive. If the PDF came by email, tap the attachment, tap Share, then Save to Files first.
- The PDF opens with Sign selected. Tap the spot where your signature goes.
- Draw your signature with your finger. Or switch to Type to type your name, or Upload to use a photo of your signature. Tap Use this signature.
- Drag the signature to move it, and use its corner handle to resize it. Tap Initials or Date to add those the same way. For a date, Today fills in today's date.
- Tap Download. Safari saves the signed PDF to the Downloads folder in the Files app. Or tap Share, then Save to Files, Mail or Messages.
The free way: Markup in the Files app
Your iPhone can sign a PDF for free. Open the PDF in the Files app, tap Markup, then Add Signature, and sign with your finger. If that is all the document needs, it is a good option.
When PDF Tower helps
- Sign and fill together: type into the form's fields, tick boxes, then sign, all in one file.
- Initials and dates: add initials on every page that asks for them, and dates in MM/DD/YYYY.
- Reuse your signature: tick Remember on this device to keep it in Safari for next time. It is never uploaded.
- A clean download: the signature is drawn into the page when you save, so it looks the same in any PDF reader.
- Official forms: government forms open from the agency's current edition. Browse official forms
Good to know
- Whether an electronic signature is accepted is up to whoever receives the document. Some official forms ask for an original ink signature. Check the form's own instructions.
- PDF Tower does not send documents to other people for signature. You share the signed file yourself.
- A photo of your signature on white paper works best for Upload.
