- Tap a field. A larger box opens with a zoomed view of that part of the page. Type your answer, then tap Next for the next field, or Done.
- Number fields such as a Social Security number, ZIP code or phone number bring up the number keyboard. Date fields have a Today button.
- Tap a check box to tick it. Where the form has no field, tap Text, then tap the page.
- Tap Sign to add your signature with your finger.
- Tap Download. Chrome saves the filled PDF to your phone. To find it later, open the Files app. Or tap Share to send it to Gmail, Drive or another app.
The free way: Google Drive
Android has free options. The Google Drive app can fill out PDF forms. On Android 12 and up, Chrome opens PDFs in its own viewer, and its Edit button opens the file in Drive to draw or highlight on it. If the form fills well there, use it.
When PDF Tower helps
- Official forms, current edition: IRS, USCIS, SSA and state forms open from the agency's own file, with the free blank linked.
- Real fields: the form's own fields are filled as fields, then flattened into a clean PDF that looks the same everywhere.
- Signatures and dates placed where you tap: draw or type your signature, add initials and today's date.
- Locked fields that open: on USCIS forms, fields the form locks until you tick a box open when you tick it. How XFA forms work here
- Saved as you go: your answers stay in Chrome on this phone. Nothing is uploaded.
Good to know
- The saved PDF is flattened. Your answers become part of the page, and the fields are no longer editable.
- Signature boxes, barcodes and fields the form's maker locked stay as the form has them.
- Some official forms ask for an original ink signature. Check the form's own instructions.
